Lauren Hamilton

MSc.OT, Reg. OT
Occupational Therapist

As an occupational therapist, my primary goal when working with clients is to improve function and promote quality of life. At Turning Point we take a collaborative and holistic approach to develop life care plans that are both comprehensive and meaningful for an individual’s current and future needs.

Lauren is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists and a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. She received her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta and started her career working in community-based rehabilitation, specializing in treatment for chronic pain, concussion management, and mental health, primarily for those injured in motor vehicle accidents. She has experience in home assessments, adaptive equipment provision, hospital discharge, ergonomic assessments, behavioural activation programs, and case management services.

In addition to her formal education, Lauren continues to pursue professional development and has completed a variety of post-graduate training. She is trained in Matheson Functional Capacity Evaluations and has obtained her Certified Work Capacity Evaluator (CWCE) designation. Furthermore, Lauren is Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) certified, and is a certified assessor with Brain FX.

Lauren is currently training to become certified in Life Care Planning through the Institute of Rehabilitation Education and Training (IRET), with the goal of developing life care plans that adhere to practice standards set out by the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and the International Commission of Health Care Certifications (ICHCC). She maintains an evidenced-based practice following published methodology, ensuring comprehensive life care plans that enable an individual to return, as close as possible, to their pre-injury functional status.
