Wendy pursued her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in Boston, graduating in 1994. Her career in occupational therapy began in the field of mental health, working in a state psychiatric hospital in Virginia. From there, Wendy branched out to a variety of settings, including acute care, home health, and skilled nursing. She has extensive experience working with the geriatric population and with people who have neurological impairments, such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurodegenerative disorders. Other areas of expertise include chronic pain, visual impairments, and orthopedic injuries, including amputation. Wendy believes that her background in working with people with psychiatric issues has had a positive influence over all other aspects of her career.
In 2022, Wendy completed training and became a Certified Life Care Planner. She believes that her experience as an occupational therapist informs her ability to complete life care plans for people who have experienced a catastrophic injury or functional decline. Wendy joined Turning Point Life Care Planning in 2023, and is accepting Life Care Planning Referrals.
